In this article it is described the operational and accounting behavior that the managerial sector of Morona Canton has adopted to promote the conservation of the natural resources affected a cause of its activities. This managerial sector is characterized by the presence of construction, trade and public service companies, which require to define strategies of prevention and environmental mitigation. The organizational philosophy is not assuming the commitment of the environmental conservation as an important goal, being poor the administrative and accounting tools used to identify, mitigate and remedy the environmental damages. The financial reports are conditioned to not including specific accounts for the control of the costs and environ-mental expenses, using accounts of the traditional accounting at assuming tickets or legal responsibilities for the affectation to the natural environment. The managerial responsibility is not assumed in case of an envi-ronmental problem, the natural resources still being inputs of the economic operations, dedicated to increase the benefits, thereby sacrificing the environment
