La pandemia por enfermedad coronavirus, COVID-19, ha desencadenado la peor recesión delpresente siglo. Este artículo se propone como objetivo ofrecer un esbozo del significado de lamisma en el sector del turismo visto desde tres perspectivas: mundial, latinoamericana y cubana.Se analizan el impacto de esta enfermedad fundamentalmente en la disminución de ingresos deexportaciones en el sector del turismo y el desempleo por esta causa. Se ofrecen escenariosposibles de recuperación, considerando criterios e informes de la Organización Internacional delTurismo (OIT) y la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL).
The coronavirus pandemic, COVID-19, has triggered the worst recession of this century. Thispaper offers an outline of its meaning in the tourism sector seen from three perspectives: World,Latin American and Cuban. The impact of this disease is analyzed mainly on the decrease in exportincomes in the tourism sector and unemployment due to this cause. Possible recovery scenariosare offered, considering criteria and reports from the International Tourism Organization (ILO)and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (CEPAL).
